Christmas Contest Rules



Christmas Video/Essay Contest presented by the Office of Greek Education

“What does a traditional Greek Christmas look like to me?”


Group 1 (Ages 5-8) Video

Children ages 5-8 are to submit a video 1:30 min minimum and 2 minutes maximum describing the theme of the contest, “What does a traditional Greek Christmas look like to me?”

  • Presentation in Greek
  • Time: 1: 30 min. minimum / 2:00 min. maximum
  • All entries must have writer’s name, date of birth and community/parish
  • Email submission to [email protected]
  • All entries must be received by 5:00 pm on Friday, Dec. 31, 2021.
  • Winners will be announced and notified on Saturday, Jan. 1, 2022.


Group 2 (Ages 9-12) ESSAY

Essay: “What does a traditional Greek Christmas look like to me.”

  • Essay must be written in Greek.
  • Essay must be your original work.
  • Essay can be no longer than 250 words
  • Writing submission must come from children between the ages of 9-12.
  • All entries must be in document form i.e. MS Word or PDF.
  • All entries must have writer’s name, date of birth and community/parish
  • Email submission to [email protected]
  • All entries must be received by 5:00 pm on Friday, Dec. 31, 2021.
  • Winners will be announced and notified on Saturday, Jan. 1, 2022.
  • Winning entries may be published in local newspapers, and other media.

Judging Process:

1) Judging will be done by members of the High Council for Greek Education.

2) First, Second, and Third Place winners will be chosen for each division.

3) Judging will be based on common writing performance criteria.
